'If It's Football, It's Vital'

RUFC - Stewart 'I haven't made mistakes'

Rotherham United's Chairman, Tony Stewart says the club is ambitious and there is the determination to get promotion.

Speaking to The Yorkshire Post, Mr Stewart said, 'We are starting on a level playing field which gives us all a big boost and I think there is a good chance that we will go up automatically. We are confident enough and have the drive to do that.'

The Chairman was asked about the ground and he said, 'There are two sites earmarked in the town and in the next couple of weeks I am hoping to be able to pick which one is the best. It's all very frustrating. We have to make sure the land is good and that the planners and solicitors and everyone else is happy with it. We have to make sure the area isn't polluted and it is a long hard drawn out process but we are making headway with it.'

Unlike Manager, Mark Robins the Chairman believes that the Don Valley pitch looks good and even quotes Wolves' Manager, Mick McCarthy saying that it's a very good pitch. Mark Robins complained about the state of the pitch after yesterday's friendly loss to Walsall and says he wants something done about it.

'I'm enjoying my role as Chairman,' Mr Stewart carried on, 'and I don't think I've made the mistakes that a lot of chairmen have made for instance, in the Premier League the amount of money being borrowed to invest in players is crippling the clubs. We look at our investments carefully and we only spend the cash we have and not money from banks and overdrafts.

'There's still a lot to be done at the club and we are keen to show everyone what we can do. We have a four year plan to get into the Championship and we have a high enough calibre to get us there.'
