'If It's Football, It's Vital'

RUFC - Liddell for Millers?

Rotherham United had a new triallist in last nights line-up against Nottingham Forest at Don Valley. Ex Barnsley, Wigan, Sheffield United and Oldham midfielder, Andy Liddell was the surprise name on the team sheet.

The thirty-six year old had played twenty minutes in last nights friendly and afterwards Manager, Mark Robins told The Star, 'Perhaps it could be a lucky phone call but we want Andy to come here, enjoy it and see where it takes him.'

Liddell had his contract with Oldham terminated in April this year, after making one hundred and forty-four appearances for them and scoring thirty goals. He joined non-league Bradford Park Avenue earlier this month in what the club described as 'a huge signing.'

I personally find this a peculiar situation - if he's just signed for a club I'm not sure how he can be on trial with us. As the saying goes, 'football is a funny game.'
