Millers v Rovers

Millers v Doncaster Rovers

Sean O'Driscoll brings his Championship side, Doncaster Rovers, tomorrow for a South Yorkshire pre-season friendly.

The last time the clubs met was in the 2006/07 season when both teams were in League One. The game at Millmoor ended in a stalemate but Rovers won the game four months later at The Keepmoat Stadium 3-2. Richie Partridge put the Millers in front on ten minutes only for Paul Heffernan to equalise for the home side two minutes later. After half-time Graeme Lee and Heffernan gave Rovers a 3-1 lead with Martin Woods getting the visitors second goal twenty minutes from time.

The last time the Millers beat their local rivals was at Millmoor in December 2005 when Lee Williamson got the only goal of the game on the ninetieth minute and Rovers had Heffernan sent off.

In League and Cup competitions, The Millers have won forty games, Doncaster twenty-three and there have been twenty-one draws between the sides.

The game at Don Valley will be Rovers first public pre-season outing against a 'full-time' club and it could be that ex Miller, Martin Woods will play while ex Rovers favourite, Andy Warrington, should get some time in goal for the Millers. It's also possible that ex Manchester United player, Quentin Fortune could be in the Rovers squad as could trialist, from Barrow, Jason Walker.

The game is tomorrow, Saturday, 25 July with a 3.00pm kick-off. Prices are Adults - £10 and Concessions - £5 - there are no free Under 8's for friendly games.

I will be very disappointed if Andy Warrington doesn't get the fantastic reception he will deserve from Rovers fans.
