'If It's Football, It's Vital'

RUFC - What's been happening this week

Rotherham United hosted an open day at Don Valley last Sunday which, Chief Operating Officer, Paul Douglas says was a resounding success and the feed back has been very positive.

The Millers played their first away pre-season friendly at The Kitkat Stadium when they came from behind to beat York City 3-1. Tom Pope and Kevin Ellison plus an own goal were the goalscorers on Tuesday night. Trialist Wayne Gray played most of the second half of the game and Manager, Mark Robins wanted to see him play again on Wednesday at Mickleover, but the game was called of due to a waterlogged pitch. Speaking to The Star, Robins said, 'There's no timescale put on how long Wayne will be here - it depends on him and how long he wants to stay. But he will be here for Saturday's game with Manchester City and if he likes what he sees then he'll hopefully want to do something.' The twenty-eight year old has been training with his ex-club, Southend over the summer after being released by Leyton Orient at the end of last season and being a striker, could be a replacement for Reuben Reid.

It has been reported that Reid is in talks with a Championship club, Robins says that it isn't Blackpool, who had put an offer in for him, but wouldn't say who it was.

Meanwhile, Mark Burchill, one of the players who Robins released at the end of the season, has signed for Kilmarnock for a year.
