RUFC - Liddell thanks gaffer for chance

Rotherham United Manager, Mark Robins has been running his eye over winger, Andy Liddell and must have liked what he saw because he's given the thirty-six year old a one month contract.

Speaking to the Official Site, Liddell said, 'I would like to express my gratitude to the manager for giving me this chance.'

Liddell who left Oldham at the end of last season, was training with Bradford Park Avenue when he got a phone call from the Millers Assistant Manager, John Breckin asking if he'd like to come for a trial.

'Due to family circumstances, I hadn't done much pre-season and I am a little behind the rest of the lads in terms of fitness, but the last couple of games have really helped me. This month will give me the chance to keep improving my fitness and, hopefully, I can be of some use to the club.'

Andy, who has twelve caps for Scotland, began his playing career with Barnsley before moving to Wigan, Sheffield United and Oldham.

Rather pleased he's been given a month to prove himself and not just the friendlies.
