RUFC - Robins happy

Rotherham United got their first pre-season win at Don Valley in the pouring rain this afternoon against a Manchester City XI.

Speaking after the game to the Official Site, Manager, Mark Robins said it was exactly what he was looking for.

'They have some excellent players,' Robins carried on, 'and they gave us a good workout in the first half hour. Although, once things settled down we took control. We put some good quality balls into the area so if we can get the bodies in there and gamble then we will score goals. In the second half we showed quality with Tom Pope's goal which was good build up play, a good cross and a good header. We upped the tempo in the second half and passed the ball better.

'We were gifted the first goal but Ryan (Taylor) has to take the credit for that and it will give him the confidence he is lacking. And we are starting to see the best of Jason Taylor. He's put his foot in and won tackles and won headers all over the pitch today. He is now starting to deliver what we know he is capable of.'
