'If It's Football, It's Vital'

RUFC - Pope 'my aim is goals, goals, goals'

Rotherham United striker, Tom Pope is aiming for twenty goals this season and, he told The Advertiser, 'I might get more.'

With top scorer, Reuben Reid, moving to West Brom during the summer, the Millers will be turning to the new striker to emulate Reid's nineteen goals. 'Reuben has moved on,' Tom says, 'and there is space here for me to replace his goals and do well.'

Pope, who is twenty-four later this month, has been scoring in the pre-season friendlies and got a superb header against Manchester City last Saturday and says, 'I work hard but I don't keep running all over the pitch. I want to get on the end of chances so I stay down the middle. They are a good set here and if they give me the chances then hopefully I can put them away.'

Pope joined the Millers during the summer from Crewe Alexander where he was in and out of the side with ligament damage and other little niggles although in twenty-six games he scored ten goals.

'We're pushing for promotion at Rotherham and it will be a change from fighting off relegation. We are looking to get into the play-offs at least and if we perform then I am sure we will be there or there abouts.'
