RUFC - Agents' Fees Fall

RUFC - Agents' Fees Fall

In a recent report by the Football League, it has been revealed that in the last twelve months, the money committed to agents has fallen by more than £2m.

Football League Chairman, Lord Mawhinney told the Football League's Official Site, 'Given the current financial outlook, it is encouraging that clubs are being more circumspect in terms of their payments to agents. In the course of the season, clubs only committed to paying an agent in 6% of the 3,700 transactions, which is the lowest figure recorded in the five seasons since the publication of agents' fees began. In publicising agents' fees, I would like to think the Football League has helped bring this about.'

In League Two, there were 1,241 transactions with 45 involving the use of an agent in which clubs committed to spend £189,167 on agents' fees.
Eleven clubs committed to paying for the service of a licensed agent - Rotherham United being one of them.
Thirteen clubs did not pay for the service of a licensed agent.
