'If It's Football, It's Vital'

RUFC - Robins 'We need to get our roots back'

Rotherham United Manager, Mark Robins was interviewed after Sunday's game for the Coca-Cola Football League Podcast.

Speaking to Mark Clemmit and ex England Manager, Graham Taylor the gaffer had some interesting things to say about the state of the pitch at Don Valley on Sunday and also about last season. Graham Taylor went onto praise Robins for the way he 'held the club together' throughout the 'crisis'' of last year.

Speaking about the club moving back to Rotherham, Robins said, 'Things are moving steadily forwards and there are encouraging signs. The Chairman has got a team of people in now who have been through this with different clubs so there is experience there. Initially I was involved in planning meetings and such but it detracts from what you are trying to do and I am trying to get a winning team together.

'There are a couple of sites out there that we might be able to get hold of pretty soon and once that's done the finance will be in place and we can get on with the building. I think from that moment it's probably a fourteen month build. We've got a site located and we've acquired a site for the training ground which is paramount. We've got to get back training in Rotherham first of all and then you can build your environment again because that's the difficulty. We are like nomads - we're training at The Keepmoat Stadium, and although it's a good facility, it's not our facility and the Centre of Excellence is at a school somewhere else and it's not ideal for anyone.

'We have to try and put something down as soon as possible so we can get our roots back.'
