RUFC - Reds ask to speak to Robins

RUFC - Reds ask to speak to Robins

Rotherham United Manager, Mark Robins is a wanted man after near neighbours Barnsley have asked to speak to him about the vacant job at Oakwell.

Radio Sheffield have said that it is understood that, if a specific compensation fee is paid by an approaching club, then Robins could be released from his contract with the Millers.

Thirty-nine year old Robins became the Millers manager in March 2007 and has actually gone on record as saying that he has a job to finish with Rotherham. And before the Millers defeat to Huddersfield at Don Valley last night, Chairman, Tony Stewart told Radio Sheffield that, 'Barnsley's first contact should be with me and I have heard nothing. I have been employing people for thirty-seven years and if anyone wanted to leave then I would never stand in their way. I'd be amazed if Mark isn't the manager here at the weekend - he has a job to do here and we are moving forward.'

So, are Barnsley, who are bottom of the Championship, just hoping in vain? Or is there something there that Robins will think of as a new challenge?

Time, as they say, will tell....
