RUFC - Compensation row stops Robins move

Rotherham United fans were all ready for Mark Robins to be unveiled as Barnsley Manager this afternoon at a press conference at Oakwell at 2.30pm. But, in true Rotherham United manner, it didn't happen!

It would seem that both teams are locked in talks over compensation and a statement from Barnsley FC says 'Barnsley Football Club are still in protracted negotiations with Rotherham United FC regarding a compensation package for manager Mark Robins and his backroom team and these discussions have not been concluded at present.'

With Barnsley confirming this morning that Assistant Manager, Ryan Kidd, coach, and ex Millers 'keeper, Kelham O'Hanlon and sports scientist Dave Kelly had left Oakwell all seemed set to welcome Robins and his backroom staff of John Breckin, Steve Taylor and Nick Daws.

I said this morning on the message board that I found it strange, after Barnsley saying yesterday that they hadn't reached a 'compensation settlement', that the whole thing was going ahead. Well, now it all seems to have gone pear shaped and we await the next installment...

I understand the problem is at the Rotherham United end. The club want to seal the terms of compensation before they release Robins to Barnsley
