Rotherham Reserves lose at Leeds

LEEDS UNITED RES 3 v ROTHERHAM UNITED RES 0

Rotherham Reserves first game of the season ended in a 3-0 defeat to Leeds United at Elland Road last night.

The Millers put out a strong side that included Nick Fenton and Drewe Broughton who have both been sidelined of late with injuries.

Jamie Annerson, in the Millers goal, stopped the home side going in front on the first minute when he made a save from Lewis Turner while Leeds' new signing, David Somma caused the visitors defence a few headaches before a curling shot from Josh Falkingham put Leeds one up on the half hour mark. Five minutes later the Millers came close to equalising when Mitchell Austin shot from some distance but the ball went just wide of the goal.

The Millers came out the brighter in the second half and an Andy Liddell cross found Ryan Taylor unmarked but the blonde haired striker headed wide and a shot from Stephen Brogan was well saved by Casper Ankergren. Drewe Broughton had a shot saved by Ankergren and another that Paul Huntington had to clear over his own crossbar. But the impressive Somma received the ball from Enoch Showumni on the seventieth minute and scored his first goal of the match, his second coming when the Millers defence got into a bit of a tiswas and the South African was on hand to stick the ball into the back of the net.

I would never call our defence a load of t*ts, dazza! Well, not often anyway!
