'If It's Football, It's Vital'

RUFC - McGovern has his say

Rotherham United ex Manager, John McGovern is well respected in the football world and he says that whoever takes over the helm for the Millers will be getting a plumb job.

McGovern, who was joint manager of the Millers with Archie Gemmill from 1994 to 1996, which included the clubs first trip to Wembley in the Auto Windscreen Shield, told Radio Sheffield, 'Mark Robins did a very good job at Rotherham and they will be disappointed to lose him. But, this is what happens when a manager is doing well, they get noticed.

'Barnsley have done well getting him and one of the first things to note is that it's not far from Rotherham, so travelling for him won't be a problem.

'Rotherham will have to look round and find the best man for them now. Usually when clubs are looking for new managers it's because they aren't doing very well but whoever gets the job with Rotherham it will be different.'

John McGovern started his career with Hartlepool but is probably best known for his days with Derby and Nottingham Forest, where he won League Championship Medals, League Cups and European Cups. He was player/manager at Bolton before managing the Millers and managed Woking for a season.
