RUFC - Nearly fifty applicants for job

Rotherham United Chief Executive, Paul Douglas says there has been a huge interest in the vacant manager's job at the club and the number of applicants is almost fifty.

Speaking to Les Payne of The Star, Mr Douglas said, 'Included in the applicants are people with experience at all levels of management. Although, as with every managerial job, there are some applying who will simply be non-starters.'

As we've been saying on the message board, there will certainly be no-one in for the game at Cheltenham on Saturday and caretaker Manager, Steve Thornber said after Saturday's game that he, along with Alan Crawford and Paul Warne, had set targets for the next four games, so, it sounds like they have more or less been told they will be in charge for a month.

Chairman, Tony Stewart said that he won't be hurried into a decision, saying he will seek advice from people in the game before coming up with the next manager.

So far, in our Vital Rotherham Poll, ex-Millers, Ronnie Moore and Chris Wilder are leading the race of who Vital Millers fans want to take charge of the team.

Makes me wonder - all this waiting around - if we aren't waiting for someone to sort of turn up by losing his job
