RUFC - Stewart wants players' feedback on manager

Rotherham United Chairman, Tony Stewart is letting the team help pick the new manager.

Mr Stewart recalls what happened at Leeds thirty-five years ago, when Brian Clough took over and immediately became unpopular with the players, which surely helped make up his mind to resign after just forty-four days.

Speaking to Ian Appleyard of The Yorkshire Post, Mr Stewart said, 'We are letting the names filter down to the team to get their feedback. We don't want the situation that happened with Mr Clough at Leeds.

'It will be important that the players are motivated by the individual and that there is respect.'

Mr Stewart is hoping to have someone in before the game at Barnet and, it is thought, will interview the last of the candidates today.

Ronnie Moore is still top of Rotherham Vital's Poll of 'Who would you like as the next boss'. And he would be a popular choice with the majority of fans. Some of the players have also played under Ronnie, either when he was Manager here before or at Tranmere.

I think it's good he's getting the players involved.
