'If It's Football, It's Vital'

RUFC - Douglas 'made up' that Ronnie is back

Rotherham United's Chief Operating Officer, Paul Douglas is delighted that Ronnie Moore is back at the club.

'It's great news for the club,' Mr Douglas told Paul Rickett of The Advertiser.

Ronnie Moore has beaten off stiff competition like Steve Staunton, who came highly recommended by Mick McCarthy and Martin O'Neill. It is also thought that Steve Cotterill was in the frame for the job at some stage too.

'It's been a tough process,' Mr Douglas carried on, 'and had there not been so many top calibre candidates we'd have given him the job three weeks ago. He went through the interview process like everyone else and I'm made up it's Ronnie.'

It is understood that Ronnie Moore has got a three-year contract with the Millers with Mr Douglas saying, 'He's got the job of taking us up into League One and I'm certain he can do that.'

Steve Thornber will probably be back in charge for the game at Don Valley against Barnet tomorrow, but, make no bones about it, Ronnie, never one to miss a photo opportunity (!) will be there. Although, his number two, Jimmy Mullen won't, as he is attending a family wedding in Italy.

I thought it was a mistake when Robbins chose to pick a bottom of the table club instead of staying with RU, but it turned out to be to the benefit of the club by getting the experienced RM.
