RUFC - Green - loss of confidence?
Rotherham United defender, Jamie Green thinks his confidence has waned a little because he isn't on the ball as much
Speaking to The Advertiser, the twenty-year old said, 'Last season we were playing 4-3-3 which enabled the full backs to push on which is what I like doing. This season we have reverted back to the 4-4-2 system and I find it quite frustrating that I can't get forward. I feel that I'm not contributing as much as I did last season.'
Jamie, who was last season's Young Player of the Year as well as receiving Vital Rotherham and MillersMad's Mitch Trophy for being our Young Player of the Season carried on, 'There's other players wanting my shirt which is good competition because that pushes you to your limits. Sometimes you get these patches as a player and it's a chance for your mental toughness to come through. I just need to keep working hard.'
Speaking about leaking goals, Jamie said, 'We have to defend better. Communication is a big thing and we have to work on that. It's odd really because Ian Sharps and Nick Fenton are twin towers and great in the air. But, good defending isn't just about the defence, it starts at the front, through midfield and then to the defence.
'We need to sort it out sharpish and with the players we've got in the dressing room it won't be a problem.'
