'If It's Football, It's Vital'

RUFC - Green 'what gaffer wants, gaffer gets'

Rotherham United's Jamie Green said it was a sloppy goal against Hereford on Saturday at Don Valley that gave them one point instead of three.

Speaking to MillersWorld, the twenty-year old defender said, 'We had plenty of chances in the first half and if we'd stuck them away it would have been three-nil at half-time and we wouldn't have had to hold on as much as we did in the second half. The goal was sloppy and we have to out the indecision in our game. It's out of character for us - it's about communication and if it's a fifty-fifty ball make sure you get there and take the man if needs be. Sometimes it's about confidence. Sometimes you have to think stuff it and smash it out of the park.'

Speaking about himself, Green said, 'Last season I think I got more freedom going forward and I played as a wing back quite a lot of the time which is probably my favourite position. The gaffer says if one full-back, say Dale (Tonge), pushes forward then I have to tuck in behind him. He doesn't want both full-backs bobbing on. If one bobs on the other tucks in. And, if that's what the gaffer wants, that's what the gaffer will get and that's fine by me.'
