RUFC - Groundsman talks about the pitch

Rotherham United's head groundsman, Jim Davison says that the pitch at Don Valley needed a lot of work doing on it after the U2 concert but he believes it's holding up well.

Speaking to MillersWorld Mr Davison said, 'There's still some work to do but I am eighty per cent happy with it and I think it will hold up for the rest of the season. Hopefully in the next couple of weeks you won't see where it's been matched. It's knitted together well, it just needs a bit of TLC.'

On Saturday, against Hereford, the design on the pitch had altered to a criss cross pattern and Jim said, 'It's good to have some nice comments about the pitch for a change. I've got a design in mind for the game against Notts County but I'll keep that a secret until the game.'

Joe Mattock was back in the starting line-up for the Millers with Michael Ihiekwe, who had replaced him last week, nowhere to be seen. Rovers also made one change with Ben Whiteman replacing the injured Luke McCullough.
