RUFC - Nicholas on his injury

Rotherham United defender, Andy Nicholas was given a first start of the season by Manager, Ronnie Moore against Notts County on Saturday, but, unfortunatley, he wasn't on that long before receiving a cut to his head.

Speaking after the game to MillersWorld, Nicholas said, 'It was just a little cut which needed a couple of stitches but it's right in the middle of my forehead so when I had a couple of headers it opened up. And, if there's blood around you have to go off. But really it's fine, it was just a matter of stopping the bleeding.'

Nicholas had the cut stitched but was only on the pitch another ten minutes before having to go off and Jamie Green coming on.

Speaking about starting the game, the twenty-six year old Liverpudlian said, 'The manager thought I did well in the Reserves where I just played my normal game. He gave me a chance and we will have to wait and see what happens now. All I really managed in the game was a few long throws, a couple of headers, one fatal one, but I didn't have the ball at my feel much at all. I do enjoy getting the throw in's in the box and with Drewe (Broughton) up there, we are always going to be a threat. We scored a number of goals last year from bits and bobs in the box.

'The boss just said he was going to make a couple of changes and me and Drewe have come in. He hasn't specifically given me a role and I've not actually had a one-on-one with him but first and foremost he wants his full backs to be solid defenders.'
