Former Millers Hero To Retire..

Former Millers Hero To Retire..

Southend have arranged for the last game of the season, to be a tribute to Shaun Goater who retires on Saturday.

The former Rotherham United star, who has netted 11 goals this season, will be returning to Bermuda after the game, so Southend will be holding a Blues Bermuda Bonzanza in his honour.

Some of the things lined up include a Bob Marley tribute band and the Gombey Dance Troupe who are the official dancers from Bermuda. Flower garlands are going to be distributed to fans who are asked to wear Hawaiian shirts if possible.

150 seats have been made available to Manchester City supporters who will be keen to wave off their star after his spell at Maine Road.

Bristol City will be wanting to ruin Southend celebrations though, after Southend gave them their biggest hiding in October 2005 with Freddy Eastwood scoring a hat-trick in their 3-0 win in front of a crowd of just over 10,000

Best of luck Shaun from everyone at Millmoor

speaking of former millers players, it looks like Chrisn Swailes may have to retire. Missed most of the season with injury which is a shame as he looked good when he did play. Says in our local rag that if he breaks down again pre season then he may well have to consider hangin up his boots.
