RUFC - Tonge 'Stones probably deserved more'

Rotherham United defender, Dale Tonge breathed a sigh of relief at the final whistle on Sunday as the Millers went through to the next round of the FA Cup.

'We made it hard word for ourselves,` the twenty-four year old told MillersWorld, 'but full credit to Wealdstone. They put us under a lot of pressure and deserved probably a bit more out of the game. We really should have put it away at three-one up.`

Twice the Millers had a two goal advantage, at two-nil and then three-one and the non-league side fought to pull it back to three-two - and, to be honest, if the game had gone on much longer it looked like there was only one team going to score again.

'They came at us most of the game but we knew that`s what it would be like. They are a hard working side and put us under a lot of pressure. But we came for a win and by hook or by crook we`ve got it and we hope this is the start of a good run.`

Dale was asked why, after such a good start to the season, it had tailed off since Manager, Ronnie Moore had arrived. 'It`s nothing to do with the staff. It`s been going well in training. It`s just us as players who haven`t been doing it on the park. It`s us that go out onto the pitch and have to perform and we`ve not been doing that. We`re playing 4-4-2 and everyone knows how to play 4-4-2 but we`ve not been doing our jobs and obviously that reflects on the management which it shouldn`t do.

This was the start of three massive away games for us. The first was to get through to the next round and now we have two league games which we hope to win.`
