RUFC - Stadium and Training Ground Costs

Rotherham United's new stadium and training ground will cost in the region of £20-£25 million, Chairman Tony Stewart told David Beddows of The Advertiser.

Mr Stewart would not reveal the exact site that the stadium is going to be built on, although he has confirmed that the training ground, reported to be costing around £2 million, will be situated at Wingfield.

'The money will come from the club, from grants and from the rental income from buildings on the site,' Mr Stewart said. 'They will create an income stream that will be re-invested back into Rotherham United.

'The stadium and the training ground are the right and left arm of the club and harmonisation of both is important.

'We're working very hard so we'll be in a position to announce some exciting news soon.'

Mr Stewart spoke last night at the Millers' Trust Forum and said that he has meetings about the stadium a week on Monday and would be amazed if the club are not in their new home by two years in January.

Although most people are speculating that the new stadium will be built on the Guest and Chrimes site, Mr Stewart would not say 'yes' or 'no' to this.
