RUFC - Lynch 'others need to score'

Rotherham United defender, Mark Lynch says that we have to take the pressure off Adam Le Fondre.

The Millers have scored thirty-eight goals this season, in all competitions, of which Alfie has scored fifteen, twelve of which have been in the league, which makes him joint second of the League Two top scorers.

Speaking to The Advertiser, Lynch says, 'Alfie has turned matches in our favour but we can't rely on him every week. Someone else has got to pop up and help.

'There is goals in the team, Kevin Ellison has got a decent amount this season. It's just about getting the ball into the right area and taking our chances. The more players who are finding the net, the better it is for the team.'

Should we stop introducing Alfie as 'the goal machine' before games and on message boards?

The thing is, we haven't really had anyone like him up front for the club since Alan Lee and Mark Robins - someone who can score goals for fun. And I think it's good for the fans to have someone to make a 'god' out of.

The Advertiser have been running a poll asking whether Le Fondre is the best Millers' marksman since Ronnie Moore - and the results are close with fifty-one per cent of the votes saying 'yes' and forty-nine per cent saying 'no'. What's your opinion? The Advertiser are asking you to email them with your views at david.beddows@rotherhamadvertiser.net
