RUFC - Moore 'good sides don't give a lead away'

Rotherham United Manager, Ronnie Moore is frustrated tonight after he watched his side give a two goal lead away and only manage to salvage a point at Don Valley against Burton Albion.

'If you're two nil up at home, good sides don't let it slip,' Moore told MillersPlayer. 'At half-time I told them we were very fortunate to be one up.

'In the first half Burton got on the ball and passed it. OK, the pitch was better in their half for that type of thing but you just can't defend the way we did.

'There first goal came from our throw in ten yards inside their half. And we made the wrong decision for their second goal. We tried to play keepy-uppy and sweep from a throw and we've been punished. You can't win games if you can't defend. To have three of your back four not quite on it then you are going to be in trouble. Some of the decision making at the back was awful today.'

Asked about Nick Fenton's red card, Moore said, his defender made a stupid decision. 'He's just gone clean through the lad and now he's out for three straight games. They'd just got back into it at two-one as well. It's hard enough eleven v eleven then to go down to ten men you have to hope you can hang on but it wasn't to be.

'On another day you might be five up by the time they get the goal because some of our misses were incredible. You can't miss the chances we have in a game and expect to win.

'When Alfie gets his chance, he sticks his in the net but at the moment the other lads look like they couldn't hit a barn door. So we've got that problem up there, the problems at the back and so we've really got problems.

'If we want to finish in the top three, no disrespect to them, but we should be beating teams like Burton.'
