'If It's Football, It's Vital'

RUFC - Pope 'We are creating chances'

Rotherham United striker, Tom Pope says that the team are creating chances as people start to wonder where his next goal will come from.

Pope, who joined the Millers from Crewe in the summer, told Dom Howson of The Star, 'I think the relationship between Adam Le Fondre and me is working well. Alfie is getting all the goals but I'm sure that will turn around as the games keep coming.'

Pope, who was recommended to former Manager, Mark Robins from now Manager, Ronnie Moore, has only scored three goals since joining the Millers, the last one being against Macclesfield in December.

'I always give one hundred per cent,' Pope said, 'Alfie is getting the headlines because he's scoring the goals and is on fire and deserves the credit. I think I need to get in the box more and score more.

'As a forward you go through phases where you don't get a shot on goal and then phases where you get five in five. We are creating the chances it's just that none of them are falling to me.

'I will keep working hard and hopefully I will start getting on the end of a few more chances.'

It was wildly reported that Ronnie Moore was looking for a striker to come in before the transfer deadline finished and will probably start to look again in January, which must be a bit of a worry to Pope. I think him and Alfie play well together and does it matter if he's not scoring as long as he keeps providing?
