'If It's Football, It's Vital'

RUFC - Roberts plays down Wonder Goal

Rotherham United new boy, Gary Roberts, thought his goal was a decent goal against Bradford on Saturday but is more concerned that the Millers took all three points.

Speaking to MillersPlayer after the win, the former Crewe midfielder said, 'It was a decent goal but it's not about who scored and about how good someone's goal is, the main thing is we got three points and stay in the top three.'

Speaking about what, looked to me, a fantastic goal, the twenty-two year old said, 'I've seen the 'keeper off his line, struck a good ball and luckily for me it's gone in. I've tried it before but this time luckily he was so far off his line that it's come off.

'The game was a bit of a roller coaster. We had a kick in the teeth when we came out after half-time but the lads knuckled down well and we deserved the three points by a mile.

'We're a good bunch of lads - we had a dip mid-week against Luton and we were terrible but we've picked ourselves up and won and it's not an easy place to come to and win. We are one of the best teams in the league and hopefully we can go on a decent run now.'

Manager, Ronnie Moore has recently said that he wants others in the team to score and not just striker Adam Le Fondre. Well, he got three different scorers on Saturday and Roberts said, 'It's nice to have different scorers. Alfie's a sniffer and he's always going to get chances and score. It's nice to see others chip in.'

Asked about how he's settled in at the club, Roberts said, 'I've settled in well. My feet are on the ground and I've turned my life around and now my football will do the talking.'
