'If It's Football, It's Vital'

RUFC - Green determined to keep his place

Rotherham United's energetic defender Jamie Green is having to adapt to playing slightly different this season to what he was doing last season and admits he still has a lot to learn.

Twenty-year old Jamie was one of the Millers' best players last year, which earned him the Vital Rotherham and MillersMad Mitch Cassell Trophy at the end of the season. I think he will be one of the first to admit that he hasn't quite found the same form yet this season.

Speaking to The Advertiser, Jamie said, 'We played wing-backs last year so I was able to bomb on but with the system now you've got to be disciplined. Defending is all about making the right decisions and I have to decide whether to go forward or stay back.'

Jamie made his first start on Saturday at Bradford for two months and said, 'The gaffer gave me a chance and I took it. I think I did very well defending against their winger who was bright and had good movement.

'I played the first fourteen games of the year and then fell out of favour which was a bit of a shock. But that's football and you have to get your head down in training and get on with it. I'm determined to kick on now and get a regular place in the side but, it's a team game and whoever is in my position I will support them.'
