RUFC - Moore to work with Pope

Rotherham United Manager, Ronnie Moore says he is working with striker, Tom Pope in the afternoons and that he is a good lad.

'He`s been taught to come across people at Crewe` Moore told MillersPlayer, 'but he`s six foot three and he needs to be learn to play on the shoulder. Not only that, he needs to be on the end of long kicks from the 'keeper because if he`s not winning that first ball that puts us under pressure. But we will improve all that.

'I`m hoping in two or three weeks time we`ll bring him out like a brand new car and say, 'there you go, let`s hope we`ve got a Tom Pope who can get us twenty goals.``

A lot was made of Pope when he joined the Millers for, what is thought to be, a record transfer fee and he was great in pre-season games when he scored five goals in five but, he hasn`t really settled into the first team as well as a lot of us thought he might. Saying that, the lad is only twenty-two and still learning and he has set up a few of Alfie`s goals.
