'If It's Football, It's Vital'

RUFC - Chairman praises Ground Staff

Rotherham United Chairman, Tony Stewart has praised his ground staff with the work they've been doing during the recent bad weather.

'Our ground staff have been working around the clock to do what they can to get the playing surface in the best condition possible and I want to thank them for their continued efforts,' Mr Stewart told the Official Site. 'I want to ensure supporters that we are doing everything in our power to try and beat these arctic conditions.'

Head grounds man, Jim Davison, said, 'It's difficult to get the balance right. We can only cover the pitch for a few days because if we kept the covers on for longer it would do long term damage to the playing surface.

'We are staying optimistic and the snow we've had today could help insulate the pitch.

'I've had meetings with the Chairman and I've been out collecting as much information as possible in a bid to do everything we can to give the pitch the best possible chance of being in a playable condition.'
