RUFC - Liverpool first up at new stadium?

Rotherham United have finally got a site for their new stadium with Chairman, Tony Stewart saying, he is 'delighted that we've finally shook hands on it.'

Today, Les Payne of The Star says that the club are hoping to persuade Liverpool to be the first team to play at the new stadium.

This is because the first opponents at Anfield in 1892 were Rotherham Town (who, eventually, became Rotherham United) and it is hoped that Liverpool will repay the favour!

In goal for the Millers that day was Arthur Wharton who was the country's first ever black footballer.

Who would you like to see as the first opponents of Rotherham United at the new ground?
