'If It's Football, It's Vital'

RUFC - Mullen talks about Gunning and Marshall

Rotherham United's Assistant Manager, Jimmy Mullen says that both Gavin Gunning and Marcus Marshall have something to prove now that they have signed until the end of the season.

Both Gunning and Marshall came from Blackburn Rovers, originally on a one month loan deal but Mullen is pleased that they both opted to stay longer.

Speaking to MillersPlayer, Jimmy said, 'Gavin has come in and done very well. He had a taste of first team football with Tranmere so he knows what its about. If we get out of him what we saw in his first game then I think, potentially, we've got a very good signing this season. He's a typical Irish boy who likes a bit of fun and a laugh and, as you'd expect, is the brunt of all the jokes at the moment.

'One of the reasons we brought him here is because he can play one or two different positions and that's important.

'He's come from a Premier League club and has high expectations of what he wants to get out of his career.

'Marcus is here until the end of the season too and like Gavin he's got something to prove as well.

'He's come off the bench on a couple of occasions and he's quick and lively. He can play wide left and play wide right and play through the middle. So we've got options there and it's nice options to have.'

Asked about the players pledging their future to the Millers later, Jimmy Mullen said that things hadn't got that far yet and he was just happy at the moment that Blackburn had let them come until the end of the season.
