'If It's Football, It's Vital'

RUFC - Tonge thinks there's been too much talking

Rotherham United defender, Dale Tonge made his first start since November on Saturday at Darlington and was extremely disappointed with the team performance and result, echoing his Manager by saying it was embarrassing.

Speaking to MillersPlayer after the two-nil defeat the former Barnsley trainee said, 'They (Darlington) are bottom of the league and they are bottom of the league for a reason.

'It was very disappointing, well, it was more than that it was embarrassing and not only in this game but in the previous game as well where we never turned up and they wanted it more. As a team it`s not good enough`

Talking about Darlington`s goals, the twenty-four year old said, 'The first one was going wide but it took a deflection and it`s gone in. Those things happen but they seem to be happening a lot to us recently. The second was like kids` football, scrapping and scraping well it was rubbish to be honest.

'We`ve dropped into the play-off places now and in the last few weeks we`ve been too inconsistent. If we`re not careful we will be dropping out of those places as well.`

Asked how he thinks the team will react to losing again, Tonge said, 'Well, we talked on Tuesday about reacting today but if anything we`ve gone backwards so I don`t think there is anything else we can say in the dressing room that hasn`t been said before. In fact, I think we probably talked too much and we just need to get on with it now and give the fans something to sing about.

'We`re not just playing for ourselves we`re playing for a club and a town and we`ve been letting them down. Hopefully, on Tuesday against Dagenham, we`ll all be raring to go and get a win and, as a team, rally.'
