RUFC - Moore happier tonight

Rotherham United Manager, Ronnie Moore was much cheerier during his post match interview tonight than he has been of late, after a two-nil win over Dagenham and Redbridge at Don Valley.

Speaking to MillersPlayer, Moore said, 'The support was good tonight. I said to the lads the support was good because you gave them what they wanted which was chasing, harrying, closing down, getting block tackles in, moving the ball, taking quick free kicks, putting balls in the right area and scoring goals. I think in the first half we were very unfortunate that we weren`t four up. And, even in the second half we`ve had two or three shots, and Popey`s (Tom Pope) put one over the bar from two inches.

'Now, they`ve got to take on board what we are saying to them, do the right things, keep the ball, we did all that in the first half. Even at two-nil you get a bit nervous. If they score with ten minutes to go all the nervousness comes in and then we forget what a good first half we`ve had.

'It`s a start and we`re getting to the stage where we want to be but now we`ve got to hope this is the beginning of our season for us. We`ve won today and we go to Lincoln on Saturday full of confidence and have to go there and attack and start winning some games.

'I thought Adam Le Fondre was magnificent in and around the box tonight but we`re waiting for him to get his hat-trick and take home the match ball. But, he still needs to get hold of that ball and look after it a bit better for us at times but he`s a constant threat all the time. Any ball that bounces in that box and he sticks it in. The goal came out of nothing really it was just a quick reaction.

'In the first half Danny Harrison`s got stuck in and Robbo (Gary Roberts) has picked balls up and we`ve been on the attack. Kevin Ellison looked sharp, but he tired towards the end and I thought the back four defended well and Lynch coming in for Tonge did well. I was just a little bit disappointed in the second half that they were just a bit too deep.

'But I don`t want to single any one player out because as a group, as a unit as a team in the first half that was Rotherham United and that is what we are aiming to bring to the club.`
