RUFC - Premier Ref on Millers' win

Rotherham United fan and Premiership Referee, Howard Webb hasn`t got down to Don Valley as much as he`d like to this season but was there for the two-nil win over Dagenham and Redbridge on Tuesday night.

Saying it had been a cold evening, Howard told MillersPlayer that he was delighted with the three points. 'I thought we played well in the first half, creating lots of chances. I`m disappointed we didn`t win by more than two-nil.`

Being diplomatic when he was asked about referee, Karl Evans, decision not to send off Mark Arber when he looked to everyone but the official that he was the last man when he brought down Adam Le Fondre, Howard said, 'At Don Valley you are a long way away from the action and it`s difficult to see from the stands how the play developed and maybe the referee thought the ball had been knocked on a bit too far and that had taken away the obvious goal scoring opportunity.

'I`ve been down to Don Valley about five or six times this season. Because Premier League games kick off at different times and on Sundays and Mondays it gives me my Saturday`s free to see the lads and some mid-week games too. I bring my family down and win, lose or draw we always have a good time.

Asked about the Millers being promoted, Howard said, 'I`m hopeful. It`s going to be tight but if we can string some results together then hopefully we`ll be in the mix at the end of the season.`
