RUFC - Moore wants fourteen lads to go to war with

Rotherham United have twelve players out of contract in the summer and Manager, Ronnie Moore says he wants a big headache about who goes and who stays.

'I don't want my decision to be easy,' Moore told The Advertiser. 'They should want to do well, not just for me or the club, but for themselves.'

The twelve out of contract include Micky Cummins, Marc Joseph and Drewe Broughton and Moore said, 'They should all be bursting blood vessels to prove their worth. After all, where are they going to go from here? Certainly not Read Madrid.

'Hundreds of scouts come to games but you are not going to get a club if you don't perform. We want scouts coming here who go back to their manager and say, 'there's a lad at Rotherham with limited ability but he doesn't half work'.

'I've circulated the names of our players to other clubs but the 'phone hasn't exactly been red hot.'

Moore has publicly said that he wants to trim his squad to around eighteen and use the loan system and he said, 'I want fourteen lads I can go to war with. The players here are so like-for-like in ability they're like peas in a pod.

'I know I've not been a fan of Don Valley and our performances haven't really been good there but I'm going to stop talking about it. If a player can't get up for playing in front of a crowd of three thousand five hundred at Don Valley then he shouldn't be in the game.

'And I can tell you, if I see any one of our players, including Aflie, not putting in a shift out there then they will be sat next to me.'

'And I can tell you, if I see any one of our players, including Aflie, not putting in a shift out there then they will be sat next to me.' - Wonder if that will be in the stands or on the bench?!
