'If It's Football, It's Vital'

RUFC - Roberts on 'that' celebration

Rotherham United midfielder, Gary Roberts bemused his Manager, Ronnie Moore with his goal celebration at Lincoln on Saturday.

'He looked like a nutcase,' Moore said when the twenty-three year old ran towards him after scoring with arms in air and hands bent.

After the game, Gavin Gunning told MillersPlayer that Roberts' celebration was a tribute to a friend of his and Roberts, himself, told The Advertiser about the celebration.

'There was a kid who used to play Sunday League who was a goalkeeper. He used to run out and close players down by making a shape as a swan to put people off. It was hilarious.

'When I was at Crewe, me and Tom Pope used to do it and have a laugh about it and I've continued it here.'

Talking about his career, Roberts said, 'Ronnie Moore has given me a chance and hopefully I can repay him by putting in the performances on the pitch.

'There's still a lot more to come and I need to keep going and get my full confidence back. Once that comes you'll see more of me.

'If I keep doing as well as I'm doing and stay on the straight and narrow then I'm sure things on the pitch will continue looking after things off the pitch.'
