RUFC - Moore Post Shrewsbury

Rotherham United Manager, Ronnie Moore said that the game against Shrewsbury Town this evening had been a 'tough old game.`

Speaking to MillersPlayer after the one all draw, Moore said, 'I thought we opened as bright as we`ve been for a long time. I thought we had a nice little purple patch for twenty or twenty-five minutes and we conceded against the run of play.

'We should have been out of sight with the chances we had but we get the one and we just don`t seem to be able to kill teams off. Then in the second half, all credit to them and our 'keeper`s had to make one or two really good saves. We didn`t put our chances away when we were on top and then, we got a little warning when Warry (Andy Warrington) made a great save just before they scored and then to concede the way we did was disappointing.

'Towards the end we changed it because Popey (Tom Pope) was tired, he`s run a lot of miles and we took him off to try and liven things up there. He really needs a goal but when you get the chances we get and don`t put them away it puts us under pressure.

'I thought we were lacking the edge a little bit in that midfield area and weren`t creating chances. We slashed at too many balls and kicked too many long balls. The first twenty minutes of the second half it was end to end but they were having the shots and we were giving it away all the time and we never tested their 'keeper.

'We have to hold a higher line than what we are holding at this present time because we are inviting pressure when there`s no need to do it, but we are working on that.

'But Shrewsbury are in the position they`re in because they can win games and they`ve got a decent squad of players.

'We wanted six points from these last two home games and playing away from home doesn`t worry me, its here that worries me more than anything. Some of the passing we did at Lincoln you can`t do that on the pitch we`ve got here It was dire down one end but it`s a problem we`ve got and we`ve got to learn to deal with it. It`s a nice pitch at Burton on Saturday so hopefully we can go there and get it down and pass it.`
