RUFC - SIV join Millers staff to improve pitch

Rotherham United have had the good news from Sheffield International Venues that the pitch will be closed to everyone from May.

SIV have confirmed that their ground staff, alongside the Millers' ground staff, will start on a programme of extensive work on the pitch when the season ends.

Speaking to The Advertiser, Pat Smith, who is the stadium's General Manager, said, 'The adverse weather has provided a challenge for everyone involved. But we will not give in to this.

'We have sought the best professional advice available and, because of this, we will be able to produce a suitable surface for the rest of the season despite what the elements might throw at us.

'The pitch will be completely closed to all users during May when we will work to improve standards even further.'

Erm - does that mean that the club think we will definitely go up automatically do you think?!

It also begs the question, 'why couldn't this be done before?'
