RUFC - Moore talks about Halsey

Rotherham United v Port Vale could well be an important game for the Millers tomorrow at Don Valley, but for one other person, it means a return to work.

Referee, Mark Halsey, has been out of action since August after being diagnosed with lymphatic cancer. After having surgery to remove the tumour and having had weeks of chemotherapy, Mark was passed fit to return to refereeing at the start of last month.

His first League game back was due to be last Tuesday in the game between Accrington Stanley and Barnet but, due to a waterlogged pitch, the game was postponed.

So, Mark's first game back is tomorrow at Don Valley and Rotherham United Manager, Ronnie Moore said, 'He will be a little bit nervous because there's nothing worse when you haven't refereed for a long time.'

Speaking to MillersPlayer, Moore said, 'Mark Halsey is one of the best referees and we couldn't ask for anyone better to be in charge of such a big game. We hope he referee's the game to the best of his standards because he is a Premier League referee in the second division

'We are all pleased that his recovery looks like it's going fine for him.'
