'If It's Football, It's Vital'

RUFC - Chairman wants us to 'stick together'

Rotherham United Chairman, Tony Stewart has called for the fans to get behind the team for tomorrow evenings encounter with Northampton Town at Don Valley.

Speaking to The Official Site, Mr Stewart said, 'After seeing and hearing certain comments since Saturday I think we all need to take a deep breath and take stock of our position.`

The Millers are currently fifth in League Two, on the same points as Aldershot and local rivals Chesterfield. Morecambe, who beat the Millers two-nil on Saturday, are a point behind while both Bury and Northampton are waiting to oust some from the play-off places and get in there themselves.

'We are coming towards the end of the season and we are all feeling the tension,` Mr Stewart said. 'But I think we need to put a realistic prospective on it and if people think that the manager, the staff, the Board and the squad of players are all satisfied with the current levels of performance then they are very much mistaken.

'We all know that the current squad are capable of performing to a level which will match or beat any side in League Two so let`s get behind the team and encourage them and the manager to excel in this time of need and high expectations.

'We need to galvanise our spirits and stick together. We have come a long way in a short space of time and let me promise you this, we will continue to make progress in all areas. We will not stop our unrelenting approach to progress in every single area for this club.

'God bless you all for your support.`
