Rotherham United's Head of Youth, Steve Thornber had to tell five of his YTs lads that they were being released yesterday.
'Today was decision day,' Steve told the Official Site 'and after discussions with Ronnie Moore we have decided to release Emmot Parr-Galagher, Mark Hemsley, Jacob Webster, Craig Gladwin and Mitchell Austin.
'On behalf of Rotherham United I would like to thank them for their efforts and wish them all the best for their future.'
On the happy side of things, Steve announced that five players, including three who have progressed through the RUFC Centre of Excellence, have been offered new deals.
'Left back, Luke Beastall, striker, Alec Denton and right back, Liam Royles, who have come through our school of excellence have been offered a new deal and we have taken Jack Leyden, a goalkeeper from Wigan and Joe Gaughan, a striker from Bradford too.
'There is still space for five more first year YTs and we are looking at exit trials and CV's as well as listening to recommendations from other clubs.'
