RUFC - Injury Update

Rotherham United physio, Denis Circuit says that the reason striker Drewe Broughton wasn`t involved in the game on Saturday was because he had a virus.

Speaking to MillersPlayer, Denis said, 'He felt ill on Thursday and by Friday it had turned into a virus. So, even if he`d felt well enough to come in, we would have wanted to keep him away from the rest of the lads.

'Marc Joseph had a problem with his groins last June which was treated but, unfortunately, it`s flared up again. And, apart from specific exercise and swimming, the only thing for this is complete rest. So, I think he will struggle to get back this season.

'Tom Pope broke his metatarsal in training, which is exactly the same injury as Dale Tonge. There was nobody near him, he just put weight on it and twisted. It`s a simple fracture and doesn`t need an operation. I don`t think he will be back when we first come back for pre-season, although he should be back in July.

'In just over two weeks we will x-ray Dale Tonge`s injury and, if all goes well, he should be back for the first day of pre-season.

'Stephen Brogan got injured in training and it seems as though it`s a nerve compression around his left ankle. He`s been rested and just had a week swimming and doing a lot of stretching exercises.

'On Thursday, we go to see a consultant with Paul Warne. It`s taken a long time for this fibia bone to heal but he`s almost there now, so we`re hoping on Thursday that he gets the go ahead. He is training without any problems but we need to keep on top of it.'

Let's hope Warney gets the 'all clear' - specially as he's been named amongst the subs a few times recently!
