RUFC - Reserve lose to Imps

Lincoln Reserves 2 v Rotherham Reserves 1

Two young sides played in this Reserve game this evening at Lincoln which saw the home side nearly take the lead on ten minutes. A misunderstanding between Millers' 'keeper, Jamie Annerson and Jacob Webster saw the ball heading towards an open goal but Annerson did well to get back and hook the ball away for a corner. Annerson was in action again on twenty-two minutes, when a James Reid free kick took a wicked deflection off defender, Jordan Hatton with Annerson, at full stretch, managing to clear the ball off the goal line. Five minutes later, the Imps were awarded a penalty when Nathan Adams was brought down in the area. Reid took the penalty but Annerson managed to get fingertips to the ball to push it to safety. At the other end, veteran, Paul Musselwhite brought off a good save from Grant Darley and, from the resulting corner, Conor Hiley headed the ball home to give the Millers the lead. Three minutes before half-time, the Imps equalised when a deflected shot from Adams, left Annerson rooted to his spot watching the ball go into the back of the net.

Rotherham started the better in the second half but it was the Imps who nearly took the lead on sixty-nine minutes from a shot by James Reid, but Annerson saved easily. Just three minutes later though, they did go into the lead, when Sam Clucas slammed the ball into the corner of the net, with Annerson looking on helplessly. Apart from another shot by City, there wasn't really any more action.

Good news for Millers fans is that Paul Warne played ninety minutes this evening and came through it unscathed.
