'If It's Football, It's Vital'

RUFC - New ground takes step forward

Rotherham United fans will be happy to hear that plans for the new ground took a big step forward this week.

Rotherham Borough Council's Cabinet has accepted recommendations that it buy the Guest and Chrimes site with Ken Battersby, the council's strategic director of Environment and Development Services, saying, 'it's a good deal all round.'

Speaking to The Advertiser, Mr Battersby said, 'It's good for council taxpayers, good for the club and good for the future prosperity of Rotherham. Most immediately, it's good for Millers' fans and it is a big step towards realising their dream of bringing the club back to Rotherham.'

The plans will see the council buying the land with the deal hoping to be concluded by 8th May or soon afterwards.

Perhaps I'd misunderstood before, but I thought the land was already bought?
