'If It's Football, It's Vital'

RUFC - Football League Accept Proposals

As we reported earlier, there was an emergency meeting today to resolve a 'fall out' between the Premier League and the Football League.

The result is that the Football League has voted to accept parachute payments from the Premier League over four years instead of two which stopped the threat over thoughts that the Championship would form a breakaway division.

A spokesman from the Football League, speaking to the Official Site said, 'Following a frank but constructive meeting Football League clubs have voted to accept the Premier League's revised Solidarity and Parachute Payment proposal.

'Many clubs expressed concerns over the proposal but it was accepted that it was the only viable way forward.

'The Football League and Premier League will now work together in good faith to ensure that the resulting contract and changes are good for both competitions and football as a whole.'
