'If It's Football, It's Vital'

RUFC - Danvic Turf Care working at Don Valley

The pitch at Don Valley Stadium, where Rotherham United play their 'home' games, has been levelled and graded, reseeded and treated with fertilizer and will be reseeded four more times before the season begins in August.

The problems at Don Valley have been well advertised both in the media and on message boards but it really all started with the U2 concert in September last year.

But SIV (Sheffield International Venues), who own Don Valley, are working side by side with sports turf maintenance experts, Danvic Turf Care.

The General Manager at Don Valley, Pat Smith told Rotherham United's Official Site, 'We are investing in improving the pitch at Don Valley for the future as part of our ongoing commitment to Rotherham United and we are delighted with the progress so far.

'Danvic Turf Care have already worked with the likes of Barnsley, Middlesbrough and Sheffield United and are one of the best in the business and together with our own staff have done a great job.'

Chief Operating Officer, Paul Douglas said, 'The programme of work established by SIV will ensure the highest standard pitch surface for our players next season.

'We also have a structured programme in place to maintain the surface quality throughout what will, hopefully, be a League One campaign for the Millers.'

Just don't let U2 anywhere near!
