RUFC - Moore 'Tom will be an asset to squad'

Rotherham United Manager, Ronnie Moore, hasn't quite decided who will start as left-back for the Millers for the first game of the season, though, it is expected that new boy, Tom Newey, will get the nod.

Speaking to Dom Howson of The Star, Moore said, 'We have Stephen Brogan and Jamie Green still under contract so the competition is on.'

Speaking about twenty-seven year old Newey, Moore said, 'Tom is an attacking left-back and is handy at set pieces. He's got good pace and has a lovely left foot.

'He really looked, at one stage, like he was going to the very top but he seemed to lose his way at Grimsby.

'But, he's still young and has plenty of time to develop and I think he will be a good asset to the squad.'

Newey joined the Millers from Bury, where he played thirty-two league games, signing a two year contract.
