RUFC - Ryan can't wait for season to start

Rotherham United new boy, Ryan Cresswell was handed the captain`s armband on Tuesday night for the pre-season friendly with Leicester City but hasn`t been told if he will get the job permanently.

Speaking to MillersPlayer, the twenty-three year old former Sheffield United player, said, 'It would be a privilege to be the skipper for the whole season and I would be happy to do it.`

Speaking about the squad, that has seven new faces in this season, Ryan said, 'We`ve all gelled straight away, it seemed to come naturally.`

Ryan spoke about the game against Leicester, which was cut short because of a floodlight failure, saying 'Big Tom (Elliott) has come in and he can win flick on`s, hold it up and set play off and Alf (Adam Le Fondre) can play off him.

'It was good for me to play against, and test my wits against, established Championship players such as Matty Fryatt and Steve Howard.

'But I can`t wait for the season to come. Get the friendlies out of the way and I can`t wait for the Lincoln game to start.`
