'If It's Football, It's Vital'

RUFC - Cress waiting for official word on armband

Rotherham United's Ryan Cresswell, says he can forge a good defensive partnership with Nick Fenton.

Speaking to The Advertiser, the twenty-two year old said, 'I've known Fenners for a while and we communicate with each other very well and our partnership on the pitch is coming along very well.

'The main thing is for us to get ninety minutes under our belt and prepare for the start of the season.'

After losing to Sheffield United last weekend at Don Valley, the former Bury player said, 'Sheffield United are an established Championship side and they probably should be beating us. But, before they scored, I thought we had a couple of good chances to score too.'

Ronnie Moore has handed Ryan the armband for the friendly games and he is hoping to get the official nod that he is skipper for the season before next weekend. 'I do enjoy having the captaincy and hopefully I'll have the armband for the Lincoln game,' he said. 'But it's up to the manager and we'll have to see what happens.'
